Ronald Keaton, author and star of the new play CHURCHILL at New World Stages, will be this week's special guest on the popular WPKN (89.5 FM) Radio program "State of the Arts" tomorrow (Friday) at 12:10 PM. The interview can also be heard at www.wpkn.org. CHURCHILL is receiving its Off-Broadway premiere following an acclaimed 2014 sold-out world premiere engagement in Chicago. Performances began February 6th and the official Opening Night is set for next Wednesday, February 18th. Under the direction of Kurt Johns, CHURCHILL is based on the life and writings of one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th Century.

Experience the man who famously proclaimed, "I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter." Churchill made his mark in history as a Nobel Prize winner, respected politician and one of the greatest leaders the world has seen. But in March of 1946, he has just been shockingly defeated for re-election as Prime Minister, is in forced retirement and everything he has fought for is threatening to slip through his fingers. When he receives an invitation from U.S. President Harry S. Truman to speak in Fulton, Missouri, he rediscovers his strength in a speech that impacts the world forever.

In this highly charged new play, Churchill discusses his failures and his successes; his love of art, liquor and women; and the bravery of Britain's finest hour.

Over the past four decades, Ronald Keaton has established himself as one of Chicago's most dependable and versatile character actors at the Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, First Folio Theatre, Theater at the Center, Oak Park Festival Theatre, Porchlight Music Theatre, and Mercury Theatre, among many others. His regional credits include roles at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Houston's Alley Theatre and the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami.

CHURCHILL is a joint production of the Greenhouse Theater Center, SoloChicago, and the Wendy & William Spatz Charitable Foundation, with the support and permission of The Churchill Centre.

Performances are Mondays at 7pm, Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees Thursday and Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 3pm at New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street. Tickets are $65 and are available at www.Telecharge.com or by calling 212-239-6200.
