Burgess, Fowler & More Announced for NEO6 Concert at York 5/10

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) will present NEO6, a benefit concert celebrating New, Emerging, Outstanding musical theatre writers, on Monday, May 10 at its home in Saint Peter's Theatre. Following the 7:30 PM performance (featuring the voices of many of today's top musical theatre talent), there will be a champagne and dessert reception to end the evening.

"NEO" (an acronym for "New, Emerging, Outstanding") celebrates songwriters primed to pen the next generation of musicals. Since the first NEO concert five years ago -- recorded by England's JAY Records-- musical theatre fans and York supporters have eagerly anticipated the next incarnation. NEO6 will include songs by the following new musical theatre writers: Matthew Hardy & Randy Klein; Daniel Israel & Phoebe Kreutz; Michael Kooman & Christopher Dimond; Tina Lear; Gordon Leary & Karlan Judd; Alex LeFevre; Robert Rokicki; Tracy Sallows; Alan Schmuckler; Katya Stanislavskaya; Jason Young & Bomi Lee; and Barry Wyner.

The evening will be co-hosted by Tony Award winning lyricist and director Richard Maltby (The Story of my Life, Fosse, Miss Saigon) and Drama Desk nominee Lynne Wintersteller (Closer Than Ever, A Grand Night for Singing, Annie).

Performers scheduled to appear include: Krystal Joy Brown (Hair), Tituss Burgess (Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid), Tony Nominee Beth Fowler (The Boy from Oz, Inherit the Wind), David Hull (Wicked national tour), Jose Llana (Spelling Bee, Flower Drum Song), Krysta Rodriguez (The Addams Family, In the Heights), Tally Sessions (Yank!, Encores! Anyone Can Whistle), Dana Steingold (Spelling Bee national tour), Tony nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Imaginocean), Noah Weisberg (Enron, South Pacific) and Tony winner Karen Ziemba (Contact, Curtains). More performers will be announced shortly. The evening will be directed by Annette Jolles (That Time of the Year, Little by Little) with music direction by Matt Castle (Company; Enter Laughing, The Musical).

The York Theatre Company's most recent production,Yank!, was recently nominated for two Lucille Lortel Awards, including Outstanding New Musical. Last season, York was nominated for five Drama Desk Awards, four Lucille Lortel Awards, two Outer Critics Circle Awards and two Drama League Awards for its productions of Enter Laughing, The Musical and My Vaudeville Man!
