A new production of A Man Of No Importance, the 2002 musical with Music by Stephen Flaherty, Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens & Book by Terrence McNally, begins tonight, June 23 at The June Havoc Theatre.

Diana Basmajian, Vice President of Programming and Supervising Producer of Stage 17 TV, will direct the piece, with musical staging by DJ Gray. Performances will continue through June 27.

The cast will be led by Kilty Reidy with Vanessa Dunleavy, Greg Carter, Cecilia Vanti, Kimberly Chesser, Scott Guthrie, Lance Olds, Simon Pearl, Vishal Vaidya, Aaron Fuksa, Neville Braithwaite, Joanna Parsons, Joanne Shea, Ben Maters, Trevor Strader & Brook Packard.

The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "A Man Of No Importance tells the story of Alfie Byrne, a bus driver in 1964 Dublin, whose heart holds secrets he can't share with anyone but his imagined confidante, Oscar Wilde. When he attempts to put on an amateur production of Wilde's Salome in the local church hall, he confronts the forces of bigotry and shame over a love 'that dare not speak its name'."

Winner of the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, A Man of No Importance is a tender and beautifully woven tale of love, friendship and coming to terms with who we are.

The June Havoc Theatre is located at 312 West 36th

Street. For tickets and information, visit www.b-sideproductions.org.
