UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will present a developmental reading of the hit 1945 musical comedy Are You With It? on December 12 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Bruno Walter Auditorium. Based on the novel Slightly Perfect by George Malcolm-Smith, the musical has a book by Emmy Award winners George Balzer & Sam Perrin ("The Jack Benny Program"), music by Academy Award nominee Harry Revel (Paris in Spring) and lyrics by Arnold B. Horwitt (Make Mine Manhattan, Plain and Fancy). UMC artistic director Ben West (Caesar's Wife, The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad) directs the reading.

Are You With It? is a delightfully zany confection that follows a charming, straight-laced actuary who misplaces a decimal point, quits his job and joins the circus! Go under the big top with Wilbur Haskins, his vivacious fiancé and the scintillating show folk who turn their world upside down.

The cast will feature Pilin Anice (At Home Abroad), Jonathan Burke (A Christmas Story), Ari Butler (Poetic License, Old Jews Telling Jokes), Autumn Hurlbert (Nobody Loves You, Legally Blonde), David Josefsberg (Honeymoon in Vegas), Patrick Richwood (Fly, Peter Pan), Kirsten Scott (Big Fish, Follies), Kirsten Wyatt (Annie, A Christmas Story, Grease) and Stuart Zagnit (Newsies, The Wild Party).

Are You With It? features musical direction by Benet Braun (Caesar's Wife, The Fig Leaves Are Falling).

The reading will be presented on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 3 PM at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Bruno Walter Auditorium (111 Amsterdam Avenue, between 64th and 65th Streets). Admission is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

UnsungMusicalsCo. Inc. (Ben West, Artistic Director) is a not-for-profit Production Company dedicated to the preservation of musical theatre through the revitalization and presentation of obscure but artistically sound works. Focusing primarily on overlooked projects from the Golden Age of musical theatre, which UMC more broadly defines as the 40 years between Mr. Florenz Ziegfeld and Mr. Stephen Sondheim's respective Follies (1931-1971), UMC treats each property as a new musical, thereby providing a unique collaboration between the artists of today and those of the past. Recent UMC projects include productions of Bless You All!, The Fig Leaves Are Falling and Make Mine Manhattan; Unsung Jimmy Van Heusen concert hosted by Tom Wopat; a starry concert presentation of At Home Abroad; world premiere concerts of Gatsby and Nothing is Forever; the New York International Fringe Festival production of How Now, Dow Jones; and several developmental readings including a new musical by Frank Loesser & Arnold Auerbach. UMC is also devoted to researching, assembling and restoring the material from unpublished and out-of-print musical shows. To further the mission of preserving these historic works for future generations, UMC's material is receiving its own collection in the Billy Rose Theatre Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
