Atlantic Theater Company will kick off its new reading series, AMPLIFIED, with Max Posner's Gun Logistics today, November 4th at 2pm at the Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street), directed by Oliver Butler and featuring actors Paul Thureen and Birgit Huppuch.

Inspired by the success of Atlantic's past projects, Next Page and Latino Mixfest, the AMPLIFIED Reading Series, curated by Director of New Play Development Abigail Katz, presents six bold new plays throughout the season with an expanded rehearsal process for more meaningful engagement with the material and the playwright.

Along with AMPLIFIED, Atlantic initiates its new LAUNCH Commissioning Program, which offers commissions to early career playwrights who have not yet had an Off-Broadway production and have fewer than three commissions from mid to large size theater companies. The inaugural LAUNCH Commission playwrights for 2014-15 are Dennis A. Allen II and Amy E. Witting.

Gun Logistics is described as follows: "He's driving north to see her. She's driving north to see him. They're on their cell phones. She's turning around now. They're speeding up. They're in love. They're in love? A disquieting, intimate comedy about the ways in which we fail to articulate and dare to attach."

In addition to Posner's play, during the 2014-15 season, Atlantic will offer readings of Nannyland by Radha Blank, The Oregon Trail by Bekah Brunstetter, #therevolution by Kristoffer Diaz, Light by Meghan Kennedy, and The Royal Society of Antarctica by Mat Smart. The schedule for these readings will be announced on Atlantic's website www.atlantictheater.org at a future date.

Atlantic's new play development activities are made possible by leadership support from the Time Warner Foundation with additional support from the Axe-Houghton Foundation, the Barbara Bell Cumming Foundation, the John Golden Fund, The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation, and the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation. Atlantic productions and programs are also supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, as well as the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

To RSVP for Gun Logistics please email readings@atlantictheater.org. Admission is free.
