The annual Moss Hart Memorial Award has a two-fold purpose: to honor the memory of Moss Hart, dramatist and director, for his wit and sensitivity, for his unconquerable enthusiasm for life and for his work in the theatre; and to recognize and encourage outstanding theatrical productions throughout New England of playscripts that present affirmative views of human courage and dignity, that have strong literary and artistic merit, and which in their productions, exemplify fresh, imaginative, creative treatment within the intent of the playwright. The New England Theatre Conference, in making the annual Moss Hart Memorial Award, seeks to encourage artistic growth and the highest standards of excellence in theatre. The Moss Hart Memorial Awards are presented at The New England Theatre Conference Annual Convention in November to theatre groups whose productions most completely fulfill the stated purpose.
Intervention features a book by Jill Jaysen and Matt Corriel; with music and lyrics by Matt Corriel.
'Something terrible is about to NOT happen? A babysitting stint sparks a comedic avalanche of disinformation when an eight year old boy misinterprets his babysitter's cell phone conversation. Assuming the worst, he calls her friends for help, uniting the jocks, thespians, and academics to stage a needless intervention. Rumors inflate and accusation s fly as these disparate personalities ultimately learn how to put their differences aside and work together in this hilarious new musical comedy," explain press notes.
The Acorn Theater on Theater Row is located at 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues). Performances are September 23 at 4:30PM & 8PM. Tickets are $20 or available at www.nymf.org
