Fingers and Toes
Book, Music and Lyrics by Logan Medland

On Aug. 26 I arrived in New York with two suitcases. I wandered down the streets around Broadway looking up at the signs, feeling a combination of elation, and intense anxiety. I've always been a writer, but why and when did I become a producer? Since that first day, thanks to NYMF, we've managed to pull together an amazing team of people, from Director Matt Lenz, Choreographer Shea Sullivan, and our wonderful cast of Leo Ash Evens, Jonathan Monro, and Stephanie Gibson, line producer and GMn Evan O'Brient. And they brought in their team of signers, stage managers, assistants designers, assistant creatives, and partners, as this thing keeps growing.

I've always wanted to write a great musical. Not just a great musical, but a specifically a musical with a great script, lots of comedy, and great dance numbers, that referenced the golden age of musical theatre. A musical that didn't leave you feeling depressed or cynical when you left the theatre. The thing about musicals I realized was that writing them is about half the battle. Not even half the battle, the next part of the battle is getting someone, anyone to actually read it. And then getting a theatre to produce it or help you produce it. That's an entirely different series of battles that amount to a long running campaign. Thanks to everyone at NYMF for making this journey possible, and
for opening some stage doors.

So seven years after I wrote this script, after numerous incarnations, readings, workshops, a dozen different regional productions in Canada, phone calls, meetings, near misses, here we are at last. New York. Somewhere near Broadway.
