In a solo recital, Leif Ove Andsnes offers classics by Debussy, Chopin and Beethoven along with Sibelius's piano pieces, which are a new discovery for him.

It's no exaggeration to describe Leif Ove Andsnes as being the Norwegian musician with the greatest international clout – concert venues across the world await his solo recitals and all the great orchestras want him as a soloist.

The New York Times has described Andsnes as "a pianist of authoritative elegance, power and understanding".

For this recital in the Main House he offers a programme featuring some of the most famous, beloved works for piano, from Debussy's demanding études to Chopin's beautiful, melancholic Ballade no. 4. Andsnes's affection for Sibelius finds expression in the lyrical and rich Kyllikki (Three Lyric Pieces) followed by Finnish evocations of nature from opus 75 and 114.
