Mozart and Da Ponte's opera plays out the conflicts between reason and passion, the laws of society and the freedom of the individual. Here are the great arias and expressive recitatives of baroque opera, along with the lively characterisation and ground-breaking orchestration that prefigure the 20th century.

Don Giovanni has inspired thinkers from Lord Byron to Kierkegaard and is considered to be the most influential music drama before Wagner. The title role is played by Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, critically acclaimed for his magnificent voice and on-stage presence.
