AS YOU LIKE IT is currently running at the Nationaltheatret, Hovedscenen in Oslo through October 3. It is a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare, and was believed to be written in 1599 and was first published in 1623.

The show follows Rosalind and her cousin Celia as they flee persecution from Duke Frederick to the Forest Arden. Before she leaves Rosalind falls in love with Orlando, a son of Sir Rowland, who is ruled by his brother Oliver. In a turn of events Orlando flees to Arden as well with his servant, Adam. They meet an array of characters once they arrive, including Jaques, the third son of Rowland, who speaks many of Shakespeare's most famous speeches- "All the world's a stage," and "too much of a good thing."

From the Nationaltheatret website, "Imagine a court where the tyranny rages and facades are valued higher than substance. Imagine that there is a forest nearby, where everything is allowed, anything can happen and Amor's arrows can meet you at any time. All this written with the steady hand of history's greatest dramatist. The comedy is filled to the verge of rogue complications and romantic intrigues, unheard of poetry, song and music."

The cast includes Finn Schau, Øystein Røger, Mads Ousdal, Trond Espen Seim, Fridtjov Soheim, Bjørn Skagestad, Erland Bakker, Mattis Herman Nyquist, Herbert Nordrum, Hermann Sabado, Jonas Strand Gravli, Per Christian Ellefsen, Sigmund Sæverud, Olav Waastad, Ågot Sendstad, Nils Golberg Mulvik, Tarjei Westby, Selome Emnetu, Kjersti Tveterås, Mariann Hole, Mari Strand Ferstad, Eindride Eidsvold, Øystein Martinsen, Bertine Zetlitz, and Haakon Kongsvoll Ulsbø.

The creative team includes director Sigrid Strøm Reibo, choreographer Oleg Glushkov, and scenic and costume designer Katrin Nottrodt.
