(4/23/2014) - TheatreLAB has announced that they are now able to accept tax-deductible donations for both general operations, and the development of their new dedicated theatre space, The Basement. Due to unforeseeable delays in the processing of TheatreLAB's 501(c)3 application, they have secured the assistance of a fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization, to begin their fundraising efforts. Contributions for the charitable purposes of TheatreLAB must be made payable to "Fractured Atlas" and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

(4/16/2014) - The Alden in McLean will celebrate Charlie Chaplin's 125th birthday with an evening of silent films with live musical accompaniment tonight, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. A star of the silent era, Chaplin was a British comic actor, filmmaker and composer who rose to fame with such films as 'The Gold Rush,' 'City Lights' and 'The Great Dictator.' Tickets are $10, $6 for MCC district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue, inside the McLean Community Center.

(4/12/2014) - Next to Normal is a contemporary family drama, about a woman's struggle with mental illness, and the effects of her illness on her family. At the opening of the show, Diana seems to have an ideal life ?she is educated, well-off, and happily married with two teenage children. But it soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems. Diana has bipolar disorder, plagued with anxieties, mood swings and delusions that trace back to a family tragedy 16 years earlier and are growing worse with time.

(4/11/2014) - Richmond Ballet is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2014-15 season, a season that will include a three-production residency at the Carpenter Theatre beginning in late October, as well as a three-part Studio Series that will once again open the season beginning in September. The 2014-15 season will feature the return of one of the most popular pieces from the Ballet's repertory in Carmina Burana, John Butler's impassioned masterwork, set to Carl Orff's musical triumph of the same name. Nicolas Beriozoff's Don Quixote, a thrilling full-length ballet alive with flair and some of the best music ever written for ballet in the memorable score of Ludwig Minkus, is also set to return to the Carpenter Theatre stage this season. The holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, will once again be part of the Ballet's much anticipated Carpenter Theatre residency.
