Wayside Theatre's 12th Annual Young Playwright's Festival Deadline Set for 3/1

The first place winner of the T. Carter Fussell Young Playwright's Festival will receive a professionally  produced public staged reading of their play performed on the Wayside Stage, a $100 savings bond, and two tickets to a play of their choice during the upcoming season. 

The winning author will go through an intensive editing process with a member of the Wayside artistic team, and will also be  part of all rehearsals for the public staged reading of their play, which is  performed on the Wayside stage on April 30th. The professionally-produced staged reading is free to the public, and followed by an audience talkback with the author, moderated by Wayside's artistic director, Warner Crocker.

The Second Place winner will receive a $50.00 savings bond and two tickets to a play of their choice during the upcoming season.  

Student writers must be of high-school age and currently attending public, private, or home school.  There are no residency requirements but participants must provide transportation to and from Wayside Theatre for approximately 4 rewrite session, as well as one week of rehearsals leading up to the performance of their work.  

To enter, please send 3 copies of the script to: Wayside Theatre, Attn: Cephe Place, P.O. Box 260, Middletown, VA 22645.  Entry Deadline must be post marked by Friday, March 1, 2012.
