TheatreLAB, Richmond's home for unexpected and evocative performance, is proud to present Mike Bartlett's thrilling new play, COCK, as the fourth show in their second full season. The production will run June 5 - 20 at TheatreLAB's venue, The Basement (300 East Broad Street).

"But that's what this is, isn't it? The ultimate b*tch fight!"

Three people battle it out in a theatrical cockfight to stake a claim on each other's hearts. When John (TheatreLAB Artistic Director, Deejay Gray) takes a break from his boyfriend, he accidentally meets the girl of his dreams. Filled with guilt and indecision, he decides there is only one way to straighten things out... Mike Bartlett's punchy play takes a lively, candid look at one man's sexuality and the difficulties that arise when you realize you have a choice. c*ckexplores ambivalence in love and human nature through a nexus of emotions, relations, and choices.

The production is directed by Wesley Alan Young, and features a design team of Michael Jarett (Lights), Maggie Bavolack (Set), Kelsey Cordrey (Sound), and Cathleen Connor (Costumes). The production is Stage Managed by Kelsey Cordrey. c*ckfeatures Deejay Gray, Todd Patterson, Liz Earnest, and Freddy Kaufman.

From c*ckDirector, Wesley Alan Young: "I am fascinated by theatre's exploration of the juxtaposition of our 'animal' selves versus our 'sophisticated' or 'refined' notions of who we are as humans. This play is, at least in part, delves into that, and I think staging it at The Basement will amplify that disparity. I want to see the audience leaning forward, putting their noses to the conflict of the play. I'm incredibly honored and excited to direct for TheatreLAB. Deejay and some of his associates are former students of mine, so I am flattered they want to bring me into their creative home and have me work with them!"

Seating for each performance will be limited and tickets range from $15-30. Tickets are now on sale and available at TheatreLABrva.org.
