The Barns at Wolf Trap Prepares for the Hometown Return of Eric Brace & Last Train Home and Headlining Shows from Ethereal Folkies Dala, Head-Turning Classical Guitarist Robert Belini?, and D.C.-Area Favorites, The Bobs

Dala

Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 8 p.m.

$20

The Barns at Wolf Trap welcomes back Canadian folk stars Dala after their debut Wolf Trap performance in November 2010. Reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris, and the Everly Brothers, the soprano/alto combo sing both original compositions and covers with great lyricism and spirit. With influences ranging from classic Dylan to the more modern folk permutations of bands like Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, the girls are already highly decorated with a Toronto Independent Music Award and five Canadian Folk Music Award nominations to their name. In addition to frequent tour stops throughout the U.S., Amanda Walther & Sheila Carabine were exposed to the masses via the 2010 PBS special "Girls from the North Country," a live CD/DVD that earned a 2011 Juno Award nomination in the category Roots and Traditional Album of the Year: Group. Their infectious energy and sheer joy with which they perform has the innate ability to turn first-time listeners into instant fans.

Eric Brace & Last Train Home

Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 8 p.m.

$20

Returning to the Barns is roots-rock veteran and long time regional favorite Eric Brace & Last Train Home. After relocating to Nashville from Washington, D.C., the band has evolved into a full-time touring act, enjoying significant acclaim from the hyper- competitive Nashville music community and major daily newspaper The Tennessean. The band's most recent release, 2009's Six Songs was named best EP of the year by the influential Twangville website, helping the band secure a position as one of the country's most formidable fusion groups.

Brace is the songwriting engine behind the majority of LTH's recordings, but with his deep rooted ties to D.C. he also champions the works of such Washington area artists (and part-time LTH members) Alan Brace, Karl Straub, Steve Wedemeyer, Scott McKnight, and Bill Williams. Eric Brace & Last Train Home are great friends of Wolf Trap, having performed often at The Barns and as a Filene Center support act for musical giant Willie Nelson.

Robert Belini?, Guitar

Wolf Trap Debut Artist

The Discovery Series

Friday, November 11, 2011 at 8 p.m.

$35

Winner of multiple high-profile international awards and a national celebrity within his home country of Croatia, guitarist Robert Belini? makes his highly anticipated debut on the The Barns at Wolf Trap stage. A rarity to have a singular guitarist participate in Wolf Trap's acclaimed Discovery Series, he captivates the mind, body, and senses with varied programs featuring selections from some of the worlds most well-known and under-the- radar composers. Belini? is the first guitarist ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in both Leipzig, Germany and New York in 2002, an honor that will live on in the history books. For his performance at Wolf Trap, Belini? will perform classic works from Bach, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Antonio Lauro, supplemented by more contemporary compositions from Chris Rogerson (b. 1988) and Nikita Koshkin (b. 1956)

The Bobs

Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.

$22

Now in their 30th year of a cappella madness, the original "band without instruments" The Bobs return to the Barns at Wolf Trap on November 12th for an evening of old songs, new songs, and some surprises. For 25 years this revolutionary group has been transforming the classics, breaking all the rules and paving their own unique path in the world of vocal music.

Richard Bob, Dan Bob, and Matthew Bob will be joined by the awesome Amy Bob Engelhardt in one of her last appearances with the group. The Bobs will also be introducing the newest (and equally, if differently awesome) female Bob: Angie Doctor. Doctor recently performed with Bobby McFerrin in performances of "VOCAbuLarieS" and is a founding member of the GRAMMY nominated PM Singers. Her vocal work can be heard on many recording projects, most notably as a featured soloist on the GRAMMY-nominated recording of Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" (Harmonia Mundi.)
