1st Stage hosts the work of Dennis Crayon and Susan La Mont as the featured artists during the run of Harvey, a delightful Pulitzer award winning play-now on stage. Their work can be viewed in the front lobby gallery at 1st Stage until December 20. Visual artists' work is displayed to correspond with each production in 1st Stage's season and enhances the theater-going experience.

Dennis Crayon is an award-winning artist who has shown his work in both New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. "Juxtaposing the old and the new, I combine contemporary composition with classical painting techniques and trompe l'oeil, surprising viewers with what's real and not real," said Mr. Crayon as he described his work.

Susan La Mont has a BFA from Pratt Institute, a graduate degree in Illustration from Syracuse University and a doctorate in higher education. Her desire is to "portray the human experience in a way that people can relate: and the use of realism-think of it as a common language-allows the widest range of viewers to enjoy it. Art brings us together like a story told around a camp fire that says, 'I've been there too. I know what that's like.'"

Patrons of the theater and others can meet the artists at a wine and cheese reception at 1st Stage on December 5 from 5:30-7:30pm. That day will include Harvey performances at 2 and 8pm. Harvey is being called, "one of the best plays for the year..." by Broadway World and "a fantastic evening of entertainment" by DC Metro Theater Arts.

Theater, music and visual artists have a welcoming place to share their talents at 1st Stage. The Theater is in its 8th season of plays of substantial depth, musicality, and humor. The outstanding artwork featured in the Gallery enhances the audience experience at the theater.

General admission tickets for 1st Stage's season productions are $30. Senior (65+) tickets are $26 and student /military tickets are $15.
