Fans of the Broadway hit HAMILTON rejoice! Firehouse Theatre will host this popular sing-along event on Thursday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m.

All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will benefit the Richmond Theatre Artist Fund, established in 2006 to provide emergency financial assistance to local actors, directors, and administrators who've made significant contributions to the community and find themselves in extreme financial need due to illness, injury, or other life-altering situations.

Hamiltunes originated in Los Angeles when a small fan club of the Broadway hit musical put on the first "performance" in December, 2015. Because the rights to mount a full production of HAMILTON probably won't be available for many years, these fans pioneered the formula that's been picked up in other cities across the U.S. of having participants sign up for the various roles to sing the show "karaoke-style" -- using pre-recorded music tracks.

"When I heard about the DC event, I just knew RVA was the ideal place," said Penelope Fleming, a recent transplant to the Richmond area from northern Virginia. She contacted Clinton Canady IV, the brains behind DC's successful productions, for assistance and presented the idea to Joel Bassin and Adam Fergusson of Firehouse Theatre. "They were on board immediately," Fleming said.

Two types of tickets are available: "Revolutionary Singers" sign up to belt out specific parts onstage (in more than one song), and "Support Troops" can sing along at will from their seats in the audience. Costumes and accessories are encouraged, but Firehouse requests that attendees leave their prop weapons at home. Join the revolution!
