Barter Theatre announces the upcoming 2011 Season and Season PassBooks are on sale now. "When you buy in bulk, you save money, and that is especially true at Barter," said Lori Hester, director of sales and services. "We are pleased to offer patrons this discounted rate when they purchase a PassBook. Up to sixty-five percent can be saved off the regular ticket price." Nineteen shows have been selected for 2011.

Barter Theatre Season PassBooks are the most affordable way to see the professional actors and shows at the year-round, repertory theatre. Barter Theatre offers five varieties of PassBooks so individuals can choose which works best for them and their family.

The Porterfield Pass offers one admission to every Barter Main Stage show plus three for Barter Stage II. The Anytime Pass offers 6 admissions anytime. The Value Pass offers 6 admissions for any day, any show except Friday and Saturday evenings. The Earlybird Pass offers 6 admissions to anything during the first 12 performances. The 5 to 30 Pass is available year-round and includes four tickets to anything Barter has to offer. It equals a ticket price of $16.50. For prices for all PassBooks, visit www.BarterTheatre.com. "Although PassBooks remain on sale through next April, while supplies last, they cost less if purchased before December 31," added Hester.

Barter patron Lindsey Lea Hayes of Bristol said, "I buy the Porterfield Pass and the 5-30 Pass. I have to see all the shows!" Tekai Shu purchases the 5-30 Passbooks. "They are great options for date nights with my wife," Shu said.

"Since we live several hours away from Abingdon," said Becky Reynolds Donner, "I always purchase the Anytime Pass. That way, whenever it works into our schedule to come to see a show, we know the tickets will be available for us to use."

Barter Theatre's 2011 season has been announced and is in the process of being confirmed. "We must obtain the rights of each individual show, and unfortunately, that does take some time," said Richard Rose, producing artistic director. "However, we have lined up the shows we would like to do, and I can certainly say, Barter will offer something for everyone," said Rose.

Among the 19 shows selected for the 2011 season are "Xanadu," the 80s beach party/musical sensation; Richard Rose's adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island;" "Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes," a tribute concert starring Jason Perry singing favorite Hank Williams' songs and musical talents that inspired him from The Carter Family, George Jones, Alan Jackson and more.

During the summer, Barter plans for you to be their guest with "Disney's Beauty and the Beast." Also coming in summer 2011 at Barter Stage II is a new comedy from the authors of the smash comedy "Don't Cry for Me Margaret Mitchell," comes "Elvis Has Left the Building." "It's about a Colonel who has lost the star of the show, yes Elvis Presley, so he finds the next best thing, an impersonator. It's important because the Colonel owes some mobsters a bit of money," said Rose. "It's a really funny show I know our audiences will love."

Also in the line-up is "A Southern Exposure," a sweet Appalachian story about a grandmother and her adult granddaughter and the huge musical sensation "Cabaret." In honor of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, Barter playwright in residences brings us "The Road to Appomattox." A historically accurate portrayal of GenerAl Lee paralleled with a story of a struggling married couple in present day. "It will be great for Civil War buffs, history lovers, schools and even date nights," commented Rose. This show is also part of a new series Barter is dedicated to, The Shaping of America.
