The beautiful crafts on display at the McLean Community Center's 30th Annual McLean Holiday Crafts Show are only part of what's made the show a success for many years. The juried show will be held Friday, Nov. 30 through Sunday, Dec. 2. Show hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec.1; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. Show admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children up to age 13, and is good for all three days of the show. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

The crafters, their life experiences and goals are the real strength behind the appeal and success of the show. Crafters like McLean resident Gloria Freund, of Freund n' Friends-Coral Reef Encounters, whose magnificent photos of undersea "critters" inhabiting oceans from Papua New Guinea to Alaska will be for sale at the show. Freund says, "I am lucky to experience that world in person, and I am after photos that can share my encounters with others, those fleeting but lovely moments a shared curiosity, of mutual regard, humor or engagement…photos that help people sample the sensation of life inhabiting our oceans."

More than 70 fine artisans from across the country convene for this highly-regarded and much-anticipated juried show. At press time, participants included: Harmony Lights Candles, Desk Essentials by Laurie, Hawksbill Pottery, Pezzulich Glassworks, Brighter Day Beads, Laughter Pieces, Gourds by Suzanna, Eloa Jane Paper Art, Meg Wear Fine Art Jewelry, Stanton's Heraldry, Uncommon Knits, Christina Alvarez Woodworking, Connie's Chocolate Confections, among others.

New to the show this year will be ongoing demonstrations by the Foothill Spinners and Weavers Guild. The guild will also present specialty demonstrations on Drop Spindle Spinning, Wool Angel Ornaments and Charka Spinning.
