CIVIC THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS
[title of show] Auditions Scheduled for January 4
Civic Theatre of Allentown announces auditions for the Lehigh Valley premiere of the award winning comic musical “[title of show].” Auditions will be held in the upstairs rehearsal hall of Civic’s historic 19th Street Theatre, 527 N. 19th Street on Sunday January 4 at 1 p.m.
[title of show] with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell, is a musical about writing a musical. Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try to create something new with the help of their crazy friends Susan, Heidi and Larry on the piano.
The cast includes 2 men, 2 women, preferably in their 30s or early 40s. All roles are open. Actors should prepare a song from the show that shows their range and their comedic skill, and will be asked to read from the script.
The production will be directed by William Sanders with musical direction by Justin Brehm.
No alternate times will be available. If an interested performer is unable to attend an audition, the individual (singer/actor) can make electronic submission prior to December 27. The submission should include a video with three elements:
· A performance of a song from [tile of show] that shows his/her voice as well as comedic skills. (Please do not send a performance of “A Way Back to Then.”)
· A one-minute comedic monologue
· A 30-second to one-minute biography that tells the artistic team more about the individual auditioning..
Actors/Singers who are new to Civic Theatre are asked to include a resume and a professional reference. Deadlines for these submissions areDecember 27th and should be submitted via email to info@
