In this comedy of ill manners, Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia are living a quiet life in the Pennsylvania farmhouse where they grew up, while their sister Masha travels the world as a movie star. Just as their cleaning woman issues a warning about terrible events in their future, Masha returns for an unannounced visit with her 20-something boy toy Spike in tow – and so begins an unforgettable weekend building to a fever pitch of rivalry, regret and racket.

“Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” has become one of the most popular comedies of the American theatre during the last few years. The Broadway production won not only the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, but also the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award and the Drama Desk Award. Subsequently, the comedy has been produced by many regional theatres, including Berkeley Rep, the Mark Taper Forum, the Old Globe, the Guthrie Theatre, Hartford Stage and Trinity Rep.

Sierra Stages is a tax-exempt not-for-profit community theatre with a goal to enrich the culture of western Nevada County. In its first six seasons, Sierra Stages has presented 23 plays and musicals and has received 51 Elly Award nominations for its productions. Sierra Stages’ current production – “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” – plays through October 12 at the Off Center Stage, 315 Richardson Street, Grass Valley.
