Casting Call for The Sin Eater by Michael Bettencourt [Equity and Non-Equity]
In The Sin Eater, Margaret Pasqualini, accused of child abuse for taking nude photos of her son for a photography project, decides to take 30 days in jail rather than admit any guilt; while there, she meets Vera Cortez, serving a sentence of 25 years for aiding in the murder of her daughter.
Performance Dates:
· Wednesday, April 2
· Thursday, April 3
· Friday, April 4
· Saturday, April 5 (two performances)
· Sunday, April 6 (two performances)
Rehearsals will be held from March 10 to March 31, with two weeks of rehearsal within that three-week period.
Roles:
MARGARET PASQUALINI
· Woman in the "building trades" -- co-runs a small construction business with her husband
· Also a photographer
· Mid- to late-30s
· Not African American, not Latina
VERA CORTEZ
· Prisoner -- 25-year sentence for being an accomplice in the murder of her daughter
· Mid- to late-30s
· Originally from Puerto Rico, came to the mainland as a teenager
· Fluent in Spanish, but with a light accent when speaking English
AUDITIONS
· The first round of auditions will be by appointment on Friday, February 28, from 6 - 9 PM and Saturday, March 1, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
· Callbacks will be held on Sunday, March 2, from 1 - 7 PM.
· The auditions and callback will be held at Studios 353 (353 West 48th Street, Second Floor, between 8th and 9th Avenues, closer to Ninth).

· Please suggest times that you would be available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (in case of callbacks). We will be in touch with those actors we want to see for an audition.
· You will be asked to do a monologue created for this audition, but also be prepared to offer another audition piece of your choosing -- we may ask for it.
