West Coast Players will hold auditions for The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh on Sunday June 26th and Monday June 27th, 2016 at 7 pm.
Jeremy Moranski will be directing this Tony Award and Outer Critics Circle Award winning play.
Auditions will be cold readings from the script. No performers paid.
The play is based in Ireland. Irish accents will be used during production. Coaching will be provided but please be prepared to try the accent.
Production dates are September 23 – October 9, 2016. Rehearsals will start in late July.
Play Synopsis: This darkly comic tale introduces Maureen Folan, a plain and lonely spinster in her early forties, and Mag, her devilishly manipulative, aging mother. Mag’s interference in Maureen’s first and potentially last loving relationship sets in motion a train of events that is as gothically funny as it is horrific.
Roles to be cast:
Maureen Folan – aged forty, plain, slim
Mag Folan – Maureen’s mother aged seventy. Stout, frail.
Pato Dooley – a good looking local man, aged about forty
Ray Dooley – Pato’s younger brother, aged twenty
