Lyric Opera of Chicago to hold dance auditions at Joffrey Tower for
Richard Wagner’s Tannhäuser
Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, 2014

Lyric Opera of Chicago is auditioning highly trained dancers with strong technique in contemporary dance styles and dramatic stage experience for its upcoming production of the opera
Tannhäuser
by Richard Wagner. This revival production will be staged by Tim Albery; Jasmin Vardimon is the choreographer, and August Tye is the ballet mistress.

Rehearsals begin December 1, 2014, with seven performances February 9 through March 6, 2015 (with a rehearsal break from December 22, 2014 to January 4, 2015).

Additionally, dancers must be mature, versatile performers who are able to push themselves physically and theatrically. The choreography involves possible brief moments of topless onstage nudity.
