The Encore Musical Theatre Company announces open auditions for their summer production of SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Carla Milarch.
South Pacific is a musical composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and book by Joshua Logan. The story is based on James A. Michener’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1947 book “Tales of the South Pacific”. Song include “Some Enchanted Evening”, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair”, “There is Nothing Like a Dame”, “Bali Hai”, and many more.
Auditions will take place at The Encore (3126 Broad Street, Dexter, Michigan 48130) on Sunday, February 8th from 6:00pm-9:00pm and Monday, February 9th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Callbacks will be Monday, February 16th at 6:00pm.
For the open call audition, please prepare two contrasting 32-bar cuts of musical theatre music. When selecting music, please keep in mind the style of the show. (You may not be asked to sing both.) Please have your music printed in the correct key, and laid out clearly for the accompanist. Please also bring a headshot and resume, stapled together, and any conflicts you have between May 5th, 2015 and July 5th, 2015.
Rehearsals begin Tuesday, May 5th, 2015 and the show runs from Thursday, June 5th through Sunday, July 5th, 2015. There will be one all day tech rehearsal on Saturday, May 30th. (Rehearsals take place Tuesdays-Fridays from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, Saturdays from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, and Sundays from 12:00pm-5:00pm. Performances take places Thursdays at 7:00pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm.)
