The Arvada Center announces auditions for the musical Saturday Night Fever

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for the musical, SaturdayNight Fever at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., on June 9 and 10 (Chorus Dance Call on June 8) and in New York City, on June 4. Denver Callbacks are scheduled for June 15. The Arvada Center production will be directed by Arvada Center Artistic Producer Rod A. Lansberry with musical direction by David Nehls and choreography by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck.

Adult Principal and Chorus:

Colorado Principal/Chorus auditions are on June 9 and 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by appointment only. The Women’s Chorus dance call is 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., and Men’s Chorus dance call is 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 8. All dance calls are by appointment only and dancers may be asked to sing. Call the Arvada Center Box Office at
720-898-7200 to schedule an appointment time. Please do not contact the production staff to schedule an appointment. Actors must be 18 years & older to audition.

General Audition Requirements:

Experienced performers with strong acting and singing abilities are needed. Good movement abilities are required. See the character breakdown (below) for specifics on available roles. Actors should prepare 16-32 bars from a song appropriate to the style of show. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Recorded music or a cappella audition will eliminate casting consideration. A current headshot and résumé are required. Audio and video submissions will not be considered. Equity members must have a current equity ID card. This is an Equity LORT B production, non-equity actors will be considered. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are needed and encouraged to audition for all roles.

New York Auditions:

Wojcik/Seay Casting will coordinate the New York City auditions, to be held on June 4. To be considered for a New York audition, mail a hard copy of your headshot and résumé and indicate the role you are interested in (if known) to the following address:

Rehearsal and Performance Dates:

Rehearsals for Saturday Night Fever begin on August 25, 2015. The production opens on September 15 and runs through October 4, 2015. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.

Character Breakdown?:?

TONY MANERO (Lead/ Tenor to A) Plays 19, extremely handsome Brooklyn Italian. King of his circle. Projects machismo with a vulnerability beneath. Extremely charismatic. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong dancer with a killer pop/rock voice.

FLO MANERO (Lead/ Mezzo) Plays 40 – 60. Tony’s Brooklyn Italian mother. Opinionated, devout Catholic. Movement a plus.

MONTY (Lead/ Bari-tenor to G with strong falsetto) Plays 40 – 60, versatile actor/singer/dancer to play two roles. Monty – handsome womanizing, high-energy, DJ with a genuinely likable nod to 60’s free-spirited sexuality.

FRANK MANERO SR. – Tony’s Brooklyn Italian, iron-fisted father who leads with inflated pride in the face of unemployment.

STEPHANIE MANGANO (Principal/ Mezzo with belt to D) Plays 20, extremely beautiful Brooklyn Italian. Projects overconfidence and pretension but is really a simple girl trying to be more than what she came from. Must be genuinely likable. Believable Brooklyn accent. Killer voice and very strong dancer.

FRANK JR. (Principal/ Tenor to Ab) Plays 25 – 30, Tony’s brother. Brooklyn Italian, genuine, paternal, spiritual energy. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong mover with a strong pop/rock voice.

BOBBY C (Principal/ Tenor to Ab) Plays 18 – 20, awkward Brooklyn Italian. One of “the Faces” (Tony’s gang). Insecure and needy. A troubled soul who tries too hard. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong mover with a show-stopping pop voice.

ANNETTE (Principal/ Mezzo with belt to Eb) Plays 18 – 20, attractive, Innocent, insecure, needy. She tries to mask her vulnerability with toughness. Believable Brooklyn accent. Strong dancer with show-stopping voice.


MALE ENSEMBLE - All ethnicities, 20s-40s. Male dancers who sing very well, to play various ensemble characters. Seeking excellent, athletic dancers who sing.
