FOR THE NOEL COWARD COMEDY

Lakewood Theatre Company will be having auditions for the Noël Coward comedy, Present Laughter, on SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2015. Call

The director, Don Alder, is seeking eleven actors: 6 women (ages 20-70s) and 5 men (ages 20-60s). Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to audition. All roles receive remuneration. For a breakdown of roles, please

Audition Location: Lakewood Theatre Company at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

Materials Needed: Please prepare a one-two minute comedic monologue and bring a resume and a current head shot. Auditions may also consist of readings from the script. Please be prepared to stay 30+ minutes if the director requests you to read with others. Callbacks, if needed, will be at the director's discretion.

Performance Schedule: Present Laughter opens November 6, 2015and continues through December 13, 2015. Performances are Thurs. - Sat. at 7:30 PM, some Sundays at 7:00 PM, some Sunday matinees at2:00 PM and two Wednesday performances at 7:30 PM. Lakewood Theatre Company features an intimate 220-seat theatre located at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

About the play: Noël Coward's classic Present Laughter is a witty, elegant, and sparkling valentine to the theater about Garry Essendine, a debonair matinee idol who never steps out of the spotlight-even when his life is complicated by the demands of friends, lovers, producers, and playwrights.

Plot: A successful, yet self-obsessed, matinee idol (a character Noël Coward based on himself) prepares for a performance tour in Africa. Before he can leave, he has to deal with a lovestruck ingénue, his long-suffering secretary, his estranged wife, and a crazed young playwright while trying to overcome his impending mid-life crisis.
