NUNSENSE-A MEN! - Second Street Players

Second Street Players of Milford announces auditions for it's first musical (of two!) for the 2017 season, the ecumenical musical comedy with a twist, “Nunsense A-Men!”

Second Street Players is a Community Theater Group, all positions are on a voluntary basis.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, 2017 at the Riverfront Theater (2 S. Walnut Street, Milford) starting at 7:00 p.m.

This musical comedy tells the tale of five “Sisters” putting on a talent show to raise money to bury the last four of their order, who died after a culinary disaster. In a twist, the five sisters are played by men! Performance dates are May 5-8 and May 12-14. Director Steven Haber will be seeking a cast of five singer/actors for this fast-paced production.

There are no roles for women or young men under the age of 18, but we are seeking a diverse cast of men. The roles being cast are:

Sister Mary Regina – Mother Superior: a feisty, overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlight.

Sister Mary Hubert – Mistress of Novices: the second-in -command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior. Should be able to belt out a gospel number!

Sister Robert Anne – a streetwise, tough character from Brooklyn, a constant source of irritation for the Mother Superior.

Sister Mary Amnesia – this nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head; she is very sweet & a bit dippy. Requires some ventriloquism and puppetry, but the actor does not need to be great at it.

Sister Mary Leo – the novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina. Should be able to do some ballet moves, but it's more important that "she" believes how good she is.

All sisters will need to be comfortable interacting with the audience, just before the show, at intermission, and some at specific times within the show.

Please come prepared to sing a show tune appropriate to the character description that is not from the show. Singing will be a capella. short segment of an appropriate song. Be dressed to move. There will be cold readings from the script.
