LOTTE LENYA COMPETITION - Kurt Weill Foundation for Music

The Lotte Lenya Competition recognizes talented singer/actors of all nationalities, ages 19-32, who are dramatically and musically convincing in repertoire ranging from opera/operetta to contemporary Broadway scores, including the works of Kurt Weill.

This year marks the 20th annual competition. Prizes have been increased to $20,000 1st prize; $15,000 2nd prize; $10,000 3rd prize. Additional awards range from $500 to $5,000.

DATES
•Applications & audition videos due 23 January 2017
•Semi-final auditions 9-10 March 2017 (New York, NY)
•Final auditions 22 April 2017 (Rochester, NY)

ELIGIBILITY
Open to singer/actors of all nationalities, ages 19–32 (born after 23 April 1984 and before 24 January 1998).

REPERTOIRE
Contestants must prepare four selections, total duration not to exceed 15 minutes:
•A selection from the operatic or operetta repertoire;
•A theatrical selection (any genre) by Kurt Weill;
•A song from the “Golden Age” (pre-1968) American musical theater repertoire; and
•A song from the American musical theater repertoire of 1968 or later.
