LETTICE & LOVAGE - Westport Country Playhouse

Westport Country Playhouse Announces Auditions on May 2

for Non-Equity Extras in “Lettice & Lovage”

Westport Country Playhouse is seeking non-Equity extras, male and female, all ethnicities and types, ages 25-70, to play tourists in the upcoming production of Peter Shaffer's comedy “Lettice & Lovage,” directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. Extras must be available for rehearsals and performances beginning May 26 and ending June 18.

Extras will appear in the first ten minutes of the production and play a range of feelings that go from bored-to-death to interested and finally elated as Lettice Douffet, played by Patricia Conolly, evolves from their inexperienced tour guide to a theatrical tour de force. Also in the cast are Playhouse alumni Mia Dillon and Sarah Manton, who play Charlotte Schoen and Ms. Framer, respectively, and Paxton Whitehead, who will reprise his role of Mr. Bardolph from the original Broadway production.

Auditions will be on Tuesday, May 2 from 5 to 7 p.m., in time slots at 5, 5:30, 6, and 6:30 p.m. Director Mark Lamos will lead participants through the audition process; no preparation is necessary. For more information or to schedule an audition time slot, please email Taylor Ross, Playhouse artistic and management associate, at
tross@westportplayhouse.org or call
203.571.1141.

Rehearsals will be May 26 through May 30. Extras will be required to wear a variety of their own clothing, to be determined in consultation with Tony Award-winning costume designer Jane Greenwood and Lamos.

Performances begin May 30 and end on June 18, playing eight shows a week, Tuesday through Sunday, with the exception of the week of previews/opening, which consist of six performances. Curtain times are Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday at 2 and 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. Extras may be asked to assist as crew on scene shifts in Act 1 only. Extras will be paid a stipend of $50 per week.
