Seeking Costume Assistants
Gorilla Tango Burlesque is seeking ongoing costume interns/assistants starting with immediate hiring. Interns are not paid, but are provided with an opportunity for gaining real-world experience while honing professional skills and building their portfolio under our wing. Interns also benefit from comp tickets to productions. Candidates may be asked to attend specific rehearsals or meetings or run necessary errands. Internship requires 10-20 hours per week on a flexible schedule to suit the candidate's needs. The role is designed to work around a candidate's professional desires and goals so please feel free to make this work for you. Internships typically last 8-12 weeks, again depending on the needs of the individual.
Qualifications:
Basic sewing skills required: machine and hand.
Basic crafting skills useful: such as gluing, painting, stenciling, millinery, shoe embellishment, etc...
Candidates must be independent and self-starters, as projects will be done without full time supervision. Highly communicative in email and text mostly. Candidates are a part of the design and build process, encouraged to ask questions and suggest costume improvements.
Owned equipment preferred: machine, glue gun, etc... Car or own transportation helpful but not required.
