CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION - The Hudson Theatre Ensemble

The Hudson Theatre Ensemble in Hoboken, NJ is soliciting photos and resumes for Circle Mirror Transformation by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Annie Baker:

The play is about four acting students who enroll in Marty's six-week-long community-center drama class and begin to experiment with harmless theater games. Hearts are quietly torn apart, and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won. It's a beautifully crafted comic/drama, a petri dish in which we see - with hilarious detail and clarity - the antic complexity of a motley quintet. Circle Mirror Transformation won the 2009 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

We are currently looking for two male actors to play the roles of James and Schultz. Both of these men are fully dimensional characters that require an ability to handle a naturalistic acting style.

James (60 to 69): James reluctantly joins the class to support his wife, Marty, the class teacher. James is tall, attractive - a lifelong hippie struggling with issues regarding his daughter and wife.

Schultz (38 to 50): Schultz is a recently divorced man struggling to rediscover himself; awkward, gentle.

We are also looking for a Stage Manager.

The rehearsal schedule will include 2 weekday evening rehearsals a week and one Sunday rehearsal (time TBD) beginning at the end of January. Auditions will be held the last two weeks in January - specific dates to follow. Performances will be the first and second weekends in April - April 1, 2, 8, 9, and 10th.
