About Beauty and the Beast JR.:

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney's Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. Disney's Beauty and the Beast JR. features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out - if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast JR. features plenty of singing and non-singing roles for both boys and girls and will focus on using creative ensemble work to bring this classic favorite to life!

This production will be staffed with our most gifted instructors, all of whom are highly skilled and passionate about developing young people's talents. For those of you who were part of last summer's production of The Pirates of Penzance JR., I am telling you this is one production that you do not want to miss!

For either audition date, please be prepared to sing a short song and read a one-minute monologue. We ask that you consider the tone and theme of Beauty and the Beast and sing a piece that is similar in style. If your child has sheet music or an accompaniment track, please bring it; we will have a piano player and boom box for CDs/iPods at the audition. If your child does not have audition material, we will provide it.

We hope to see you at auditions!
