Brief Synopses:
Rover is pleased to present the winners of our inaugural 10-minute play contest, plus a bonus play!

The Maltese Walter by John Minigan (1st place winner)

On the eve of his wedding day, mild-mannered accountant Walter visits therapist Dr. Eddy with a big problem: Walter’s fiancée refuses to marry him unless he gives up his superpower and secret identity: Noir-Man, able to transform any moment into film noir. When fiancée Vera arrives, she and Dr. Eddy convince Walter to “go straight,” but the therapy takes a dark and unexpected turn.

Timmy Perlmutter Goes Flying by Paul Lewis (2nd place winner)

Eight-year-old Timmy, seeing an ad in a vintage comic book, sends away for a Remco Motorized Jet-Pack. Much to his family's surprise, it arrives at their home a week later, and takes Timmy on a dazzling adventure — one which leaves their world forever changed.

The Cut by Patrick Cleary (tied for 3rd place)

Arthur is a middle-manager who is a little tired and a little overwhelmed in dealing with Terri, his incredibly competent assistant, who has...a little problem.

How Nice of You to Ask by Rich Rubin (tied for 3rd place)

An elderly woman provides some unexpected responses on a survey.

The Couch by Carol M. Rice (bonus play)

What is a couch? Is it merely materials of wood, fabric, batting, and springs? Is it upholstery over a frame constructed only to provide a place to sit? No. It’s more. Much more. Join us as we examine one of the most sacred relationships ever known - a man and his couch.
