Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts announced a spectacular lineup of productions for the 2016-2017 season at their annual party and fundraiser tonight showcasing musical performances from next season's shows and a sneak peek number from the upcoming musical, "Sweet Charity" opening on Rivertown's Main Stage Jan 15.

"How do you top last year's most ambitious season of all musicals? You raise the bar again by presenting a season filled with different, unique, yet challenging and spectacular offerings to appeal to our extremely loyal and appreciative audiences who have supported, cheered us on, and grown with us over the past years," said Kelly Fouchi, Co-artistic/Managing Director of Rivertown Theaters.

"In this, our 5th season, we are excited about the theatrical adventures ahead. We remain committed to presenting a wide variety of shows that will entertain everyone from young audiences and newcomers to the theatrical experience, to seasoned theatregoers. Our 2016-2017 lineup invites them to experience something new and original; revisit or share a timeless classic."

"We are thrilled with the support and response that we have received for each season's offerings. Topping the "best of" lists, each of the shows last year played to sold out houses and enthusiastic audiences. Our goal is to continue to present audiences with productions that are full of high entertainment value featuring some of the area's most talented performers."

The list of Main Stage shows for the 2016 - 2017 season follows below.

The evening began at 7:30 pm with a cocktail reception followed by the Show and season announcement. Both artistic directors, Gary Rucker and Kelly Fouchi, welcomed the crowd and showed a montage of highlights from past seasons. They revealed each show introducing the creative team and a performance from each of the shows. Following the announcements, Fouchi and Rucker conducted a Live Auction that featured a variety of exclusive theatrical experiences. The evening closed out with desserts and champagne provided by area businesses including Langenstein's, Treasure Chest, Caluda's King Cakes, LaBella's Catering & Deli and The Happy Italian at an after party.

During the evening, Rucker and Fouchi presented "Volunteers of the Year" recognition awards to Volunteers of the Year: Kenner City Councilman Keith Reynaud and Jane Hirling for their longtime, on-going support and contributions to Rivertown Theaters.

Rucker and Fouchi also conducted a Question & Answer session with the audience about the shows and spoke about the need for financial support from the community through ticket sales, season subscriptions and corporate and individual sponsorships.
