This holiday season, The New Orleans Museum of Art and The NOLA Project present their eighth collaboration, bringing a classic story to bold new life in the museum's Great Hall. In December, the award-winning, independent theatre company will transform NOMA into the mysterious land of Illyria in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night; or, What You Will." The Bard's comedy tells the story of a pair of ill-fated twins who have been shipwrecked and must journey through a maze of strange surroundings and quirky characters to find their way back to one another.

Helming the cast are company members Cecile Monteyne and Kristin Witterschein. In October, Monteyne starred as Margot in NOLA Project's regional premier of "Shiner" at the Marigny Theatre and NOMA audiences will remember Witterschein as Juliet from 2011's "Romeo and Juliet." Keith Claverie, who appeared in the company's season opener, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," takes on the yellow-stockinged Malvolio, and James Bartelle, who directed "Romeo and Juliet," brings his experienced acting chops to the role of Orsino.

NOLA Project Artistic Director, AJ Allegra, directs the production. "I have always viewed 'Twelfth Night' as a kind of fairy tale for adults," Allegra states. "Its colorful characters, mysterious setting, and musical elements all capture the feeling of an old-fashioned adventure story." He continues, "We've added some unique elements that will surprise and excite even the most devout Shakespeare fans."
