Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) and Theatre-13 are thrilled to announce auditions for their upcoming production of the Tony Award winning musical THE DROWSY CHAPERON (Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison Book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar), starring Ricky Graham. Auditions will take place at Encore Dance Studio (1999 Hickory Ave Suite 102) on May 1 at 5:30 pm and May 2 at 7:30 pm. Auditioners will be seen on a first come / first served basis. Director Gary Rucker is looking for men and women, including one African American Woman, who can sing and move well. Male tappers are a plus. Auditioners are asked to prepare 16 bars of up-tempo music IN THE CORRECT KEY and be prepared to dance (bring tap shoes if you have them). An accompanist will be provided. Some roles have been cast, but many are still open. For more information please email www.theatre13nola@gmail.com.

Jefferson Performing Arts Society & Theatre-13 will present THE DROWSY CHAPERONE on stage at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre (177 Sala Ave in Westwego) September 30-October 16, 2011 with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30PM and Sundays at 2PM. Gary Rucker directs with choreography by Kelly Fouchi. This production stars Ricky Graham, Sean Patterson and Janet Shea. A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained. If you've ever sat in a dark theatre and thought, "Dear Lord in heaven, please let it be good," this is the show for you! It all begins when a die-hard musical-theater fan (Ricky Graham) plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep, her true love.
