Billy Elliot The Musical electrifies!
Hexagon Players brings a family friendly version of the beloved Billy Elliot The Musical to New Jersey theater. Under the direction of Patrick Francis Mahn and musical direction of Lisa Sabatino, Billy Elliot The Musical celebrates both the importance of community and the need for individuality, while highlighting the struggle between harsh realities during uncertain times and the innocence of hopeful dreams. Coupled with delicate ballet scenes and powerful tap numbers choreographed by Liz Piccoli, this show is beautifully reimagined and filled with passion, heart and a sprinkling of humor. Billy Elliot The Musical is sure to have audience members of all ages stand in solidarity and cheer for Billy.
Based on the Universal Pictures movie released in 2000, Billy Elliot The Musical tells the story of a young boy in a small mining town in the UK who discovers his true passion lies in ballet, not the boxing ring. With the help of his eccentric ballet instructor Mrs. Wilkinson, Billy finds the courage to defy the expectations of him from both his town and his family to follow his dream. His father, going through his own struggles, forbids Billy to do so but in the end, realizes doing what is best for his son is ultimately what is best for him and their town. Winner of 4 Oliver Awards while at the West End and 10 Tony Awards while on Broadway, including best musical, Billy Elliot The Musical is a smash hit and an international success with current tours all over the world.
