According to Press of Atlantic City, local favorite Surflight Theatre will reopen following two quiet seasons. The theatre closed in 2015 after a failed restructuring in 2013. Surflight's upcoming season is scheduled for June 23rd starting with a production of FOOTLOOSE. Also slated for the season are shows such as NEWSIES, HAIRSPRAY, and MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET.

Surflight's new owner Al Parinello, known as the producer of Broadway's THE FANTASTICKS, was quoted regarding the reopening saying, "I don't want to demolish the theater and build condos."

Surflight will also bring back the popular ice cream parlor located next door.

Steve Steiner will return to his former position as artistic director. Steiner says, "We will be going back to the roots of what we do ... to be a training ground for actors, actresses and (theater) technicians," Steiner said. "We are really excited to get in here and bring the theater back to the community."

Management's note on their website bolsters this attitude saying, "Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, professional theatre is returning to Beach Haven. It's been a difficult couple of years, but thanks to unwavering support from our patrons, the Beach Haven, LBI, and Ocean County communities, and a dedicated group of theatre professionals, Surflight Theatre will once again provide quality professional theatre in the proud tradition of our founder, Joseph P. Hayes."
