The Power Pop-A-Licious II music festival will take place on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Conceived and curated by power pop legend Paul Collins (co-founder of THE NERVES, THE BREAKAWAYS and THE BEAT), the fest will bring together some of the finest young guitar-driven power pop, garage rock and punk-pop bands from across the U.S. and Canada. Power Pop-A-Licious II is a unifying rally cry for the thriving rock-n-roll subculture, and is a means for power pop fans of all ages to discover a wealth of talented new acts in one power-packed weekend.
Collins explains the concept behind this year’s festival: “I wanted to keep the spirit of last year’s fest going, it was going to be a challenge to come up with a whole new bunch of bands that I personally believed in and that I thought meant something…I think in the end we were able to do that, all these bands, in my opinion, are serious about what they are doing, they are all out there trying to make something happen, I am proud to be able to help them achieve that goal.”
Power-Pop-A-Licious II is ground zero for a burgeoning DIY power pop scene fueled by the devotion of its fans, the immediacy of the internet and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Each day will feature bands from different regions of the country with local DJs spinning sets to create an all-day dance party atmosphere. The world-famous Asbury Lanes, where the two day fest will take place, is a vintage bowling alley, bar and live music venue with a capacity of 300, and is located in the heart of beautiful Asbury Park.
Tickets for the fest are $15 and will be available to purchase online through TicketWeb:
