Playful Theatre Productions will present one of the most thrilling musicals of all time. "LES MISERABLES" comes to Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre for three weekends: Fridays, March 28, April 4 and April 11 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, March 29, April 5 and April 12 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, March 30, April 6 and April 13 at 2 p.m.

Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on March 28.

The Tony and Grammy Award-winning blockbuster musical is based on the novel by Victor Hugo, which begins in Paris in 1815 and culminates with the student rebellion of 1832. Accompanied by a majestic score, the show takes us on the journey of Jean Valjean, an honest man driven to steal a loaf of bread for his starving family. It's an act that has far-reaching consequences, condemning Valjean to hard labor for almost two decades. As he sets about to start a new life, Valjean finds that he cannot keep his past at bay. Javert, a police inspector with an unbending sense of justice, continues to track him relentlessly. The characters' personal sagas are set against the backdrop of revolutionary France, as "LES MISERABLES" compellingly addresses themes of love, freedom, sacrifice, honor and the nature of justice.
