The hilarious comedienne, Paula Poundstone, known for her amazing ability to find the humor in every aspect of life will be performing at the Bergen Performing Arts Center on July 21 at 8 pm as part of her current national tour. Poundstone makes outstandingly witty observations about cats, politics, and everything in between.

A Massachusetts native, Poundstone, began cultivating her humor from a young age. She credits her kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bump, for being the first person to recognize her comedic talents. Bump sent home a note to her parents that read "I have enjoyed many of Paula's humorous comments about our activities."

As a stand comedian Paula Poundstone began nurturing her skills in the Boston comedy scene. Ultimately the comedienne relocated to Los Angeles where she began to see major success. She appeared on Saturday Night Live with friend and mentor Robin Williams when he was a host. During this time, Poundstone also was the star of the Cable ACE Awarding winning HBO comedy special "Cats, Cops, and Stuff". She was the first woman to win the Cable ACE award for a stand-up comedy special.

Poundstone was also the first woman to perform at the White House Correspondents dinner. In 1996, she was taped her second HBO comedy special "Paula Poundstone Goes to Harvard". This was the first time that the prestigious university allowed the use of its name.

The wit and timing of Poundstone's humor caught the attention of National Public Radio. She was asked to come on as a panelist for the talk radio show "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me" and has been on the panel for the seven years now. The show gives Poundstone the opportunity to go head to head with some of the country's leading experts.

Poundstone has been providing social, political, and sometimes zoological commentary since the ripe young age of five. It has been said that audiences have complained about their cheeks hurting from non-stop laughter at her performances. With can of Diet Pepsi, a stool, and a microphone Paula Poundstone has achieved fame with her amazing wit.
