McGovern To Open Lackland Performing Arts Center 9/24

Maureen McGovern will perform at the 'Curtain Up' Gala at New Jersey's Lackland Performing Arts Center, The Centenary Stage Company has announced.  The gala, to be held on September 24, will celebrate the opening of the center.

A champagne reception will be held at 6pm; the concert will begin at 8pm and will be followed by a private gathering with McGovern for the company sponsors.

Maureen McGovern's stage credits include Broadway's THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE and LITTLE WOMEN, as well as THE SOUND OF MUSIC, SOUTH PACIFIC, Maureen McGovern: A LONG AND WINDING ROAD, THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG, THE BENGAL TIGER'S BALL, and BROWNSTONE. She has recorded numerous albums and is well-known for her performances of 'The Morning After' from 'The Poseidon Adventure' and 'We May Never Love Like This Again' from 'The Towering Inferno.'

The Centenary Stage Company says of the Lackland Center, "The Centenary Stage Company and all its programs will find a new home with the of construction the Carol and David Lackland Center. With a 22,000-square-foot performance space, the facility is destined to become the most sophisticated performing arts venue in northwest New Jersey. The center will include a 500-seat theatre, a black box theater, a dance studio, scene shop, a costume shop, green room and dressing rooms. In addition to housing the theatre, the 68K square foot Lackland Center will be a home for a variety of cultural activity, and will include WNTI, the College's listener-supported public radio station, CCTV, Centenary's Comcast-licensed television studio, and gallery space for visual artists."
