Juillard @ SOPAC rings in the holiday season with the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble performing swinging holiday favorites on SUN, DEC 13th at 3 p.m. at SOPAC. This young ensemble, the finest of Juilliard's Jazz graduate students, is directed by Jazz legend Wynton Marsalis. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at SOPACnow.org, or by calling the box office at (973) 313-2787.

The Juilliard Jazz Ensemble's performance will feature an eclectic showcase of seasonal favorites including the work of Vince Guaraldi (A Charlie Brown Christmas) Chick Corea ("Straight Up And Down"), Herbie Hancock ("Speak Like A Child") and Rodgers and Hammerstein ("My Favorite Things") as well as traditional beloved holiday pieces.

Juilliard is known as the premier college for training the best and brightest musicians in the world. Those who study at the school have lead a tradition of excellence upon graduation. Juilliard alumni have received a total of 105 Grammy Awards collectively. The institution has always been known for their distinguished faculty and this year is no different; Pulitzer Prize-winning and multiple Grammy award-winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis assumed the position of director of the Jazz Studies program at Juilliard last year. Marsalis has won nine Grammy Awards, and is the only artist who has ever won for both Jazz and Classical records.
