New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with Gladys Knight with special guest The Whispers. Be there for an electric evening of classic soul, R&B and pop when reigning "Empress of Soul" Gladys Knight ("Midnight Train to Georgia") shares an evening with Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductees The Whispers ("Rock Steady").

The great ones endure, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. This seven-time GRAMMY Award winner has enjoyed No. 1 hits across the charts - in the pop, gospel, R&B, and adult contemporary categories. As part of the timeless Gladys Knight and The Pips, she created a long list of chart-topping hits: "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," "If I Were Your Woman," "Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye)," "You're the Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me" and "Midnight Train to Georgia," to name but a few.

All told, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years, including 2014's Where My Heart Belongs, an inspirational LP that won Knight her second GRAMMY in the gospel category. The recipient of a BET Lifetime Achievement Award, Knight's long and varied career has also included frequent work on television (Empire, American Idol), Broadway (Smokey Joe's Cafe), and the big screen (Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All by Myself).

Knight will share this NJPAC concert with the classic R&B vocal group, The Whispers. First formed in 1963, this sensational ensemble has racked up seven gold albums, two platinum albums, and more than a dozen Top 20 singles including "Rock Steady," "And the Beat Goes On," "Can You Do the Boogie," and "Out the Box." The Whispers have been inducted into both the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Soul Music Hall of Fame, and have also received the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's prestigious Pioneer Award. Sunday, January 15, 2017 7:00 PM at Prudential Hall. Get your tickets now at NJPAC.org or 888.GO.NJPAC (888.466.5722)
