The globally recognized Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) invites all managers, agents, actors, and friends of actors to make their submissions now for its 2017 Rising Star Award through FilmFreeway.com. The Rising Star Award is open to all up and coming actors, regardless of age, union affiliation, or residence.

Eligible candidates must have an undeniable passion for acting. We look for someone who has made inroads into the industry through hard work and determination. The committee will be looking for a progression of work in theater, commercials, television, and film. Past winners include Adam Mucci (#BoardwalkEmpire), Ronnie Marmo (#GeneralHospital), Joe Sernio (#AllMyChildren), Joey Russo (#JerseyBoys), and Quinn Shephard (#Windsor and the soon to be released "Blame").

The winner MUST be available to attend the Festival, March 30-April 2, 2017 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Transportation (coach airfare where applicable) and accommodations are provided. The winner will be honored at the Black Tie Awards Gala on Sunday April 2, 2017, and will be invited to attend/participate in various events, including the screenplay reading, as applicable.

To apply, applicants or their representatives should open a free account with FilmFreeway at www.filmfreeway.com/festival/GardenStateFilmFestival and create a project named "[Applicant's name] Rising Star". Once completed, your project will need to be submitted to the Garden State Film Festival through the FilmFreeway system, under the Rising Star Award category. An easy link to the GSFF in FilmFreeway can be found on the GSFF website www.gsff.org.

When applying, upload your reel as you would a film ( the system is primarily designed for film submissions), upload a head shot or other publicity photos in PDF format under production photos, a resume and any other supporting documentation/reviews/information in PDF format under news & reviews or files & attachments (this system was designed primarily for film entries). There is a $45 application fee per candidate submission. The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2016. The winner will be notified by email, sometime in January, 2017. If you have any questions, please contact risingstar@gsff.org.

About the Garden State Film Festival:
The Garden State Film Festival was envisioned by 25-year film industry veteran and Sea Girt resident, Diane Raver and the late Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli in 2002 and launched the following year. Since 2003, thousands of films have made their public premiers, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world have attended; and the total infusion of cash to local businesses since inception exceeds $5 million. Until 2013, it was held in Asbury Park, in and around the Convention Center complex. In 2014, it relocated to Atlantic City as a major component of DO AC, the marketing campaign to promote arts and culture the city spearheaded by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. The GSFF is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization.
