East Lynne Theater Co Invites The Public To Meet The Cast of Dulcy 9/30

Audience members have the opportunity to ask questions of the talented cast and the artistic director, Gayle Stahlhuth (who also has a small role in the play) on Friday, September 30, immediately after seeing the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company's production of "Dulcy." Recently Terry Teachout of "The Wall Street Journal" gave ELTC kudos for producing a rarely seen play by Rachel Crothers, "He and She," and now the company tackles the seldom seen screwball comedy, "Dulcy," written by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly. Kaufman's daughter, Anne, who has seen most of her father's works on stage, including ELTC's productions of "The Butter and Egg Man" and "To the Ladies," has never seen "Dulcy." She is planning to see the play, meet the cast, and share in an after-show Q&A, the date to be determined.

"Dulcy" is about a wife who aims to please her husband. She believes she's created the perfect atmosphere in their home for a lovely weekend where her husband can make a brilliant business deal with Mr. Forbes - or perhaps with Forbes' rival - and Forbes' daughter can run away with the right - or wrong - man. It may be that an innocent person could go to jail and all of her plans will go awry.

Megan McDermott, who plays Dulcy, and Drew Seltzer, who plays her husband, Gordon, were in ELTC's "The World of Dorothy Parker." Megan has also performed at The Wilma and McCarter Theater, and recently was in "Three Sisters" in NYC. Drew was in "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" in NYC and has the lead in the upcoming feature film "Leaving Circadia" opposite Michael Cerveris. Playing their maid, Henrietta, is another "Parker" performer, SuzAnne Dawson, who has played leading roles off-Broadway and in regional theaters including Paper Mill Playhouse and Buffalo Studio Arena. Dulcy's bother is played by Dave Holyoak who was in ELTC's recent "He and She" and was in "Dirty Blonde" at the Civic Theatre in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Fred Velde, as Mr. Forbes, and his wife, played by Alison J. Murphy, and his daughter, Angela, portrayed by Erin Callahan, have all been in ELTC productions including "Anna Christie" (Fred), "The Guardsman" (Alison) and "Berkeley Square" (Erin). Fred's other credits include "The Price of Genius" on Broadway and "Sex" by Mae West, Off-Broadway. Alison has worked at American Stage Company and Shakespeare in the Garden, in productions including "Cloud Nine" and "Twelfth Night." Erin was in the "Fifth of July" in NYC and recently played Emilia in Oxford Shakespeare Company's "The Two Noble Kinsmen," performed both in NYC and London's Hyde Park.

Three other guests spend the weekend at the home of Dulcy and Gordon: an advertising man, played by Thomas Raniszewski (from last season's "Berkeley Square"), a silent film scriptwriter, portrayed by Mark Edward Lang (seen in "The Guardsman") and a charming pianist entrepreneur, played by Larry Daggett who just finished performing in "The Full Monty" at Sierra Repertory Theater in Sonora, CA, and was last in Cape May in Cape May Stage's production of "Souvenir." Thomas recently received critical acclaim in the Philadelphia premier of the award-winning play "The Twentieth-Century Way." Mark's work includes "Welcome Home Marian Anderson," Off-Broadway and on tour, including at the Clinton Presidential Center in Arkansas. Larry's NYC credits include "Ragtime" and "Candide," with numerous regional and touring credits including the national tour of "Red, Hot, and Cole."

"Dulcy" runs through October 15 every Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00p.m., except there is no show on Wednesday, October 5, and an added performance on Sunday, October 9 at 7:30p.m., at The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St., Cape May, where the company is in residence. On Friday, October 14 is an ASL Performance.
