Dance Theatre of Harlem, founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook, was an artistic means of turning despair into hope following the assassination of Dr. King. Considered "one of ballet's most exciting undertakings" (The New York Times), it has grown over more than four decades into an innovative, multi-cultural company that brings bold new forms of artistic expression to audiences around the globe.

One of the nation's most vital dance institutions, the company consists of racially diverse dancers, known worldwide for bringing a contemporary flair to classical and neo-classical ballet repertoire. Dance Theatre of Harlem remains committed to artistic excellence, and to reaching new audiences with a powerful message of self-reliance, artistic relevance and individual responsibility.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), located in downtown Newark, New Jersey, is among the largest performing arts centers in the United States and is the artistic, cultural, educational and civic center of New Jersey - where Great Performances and events enhance and transform lives every day.
