Centenary Stage Company and series sponsor The House of the Good Shepherd welcome Dr. K's Motown Revue to the Lackland Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 12 at 8pm as the last installment of the 2017 Summer Jamfest. The Motown sound has left an indelible stamp on the heart, soul, and mind of several generations of fans worldwide, and Paul Korman created the ultimate Motown tribute band to honor their music. With a set list that covers as many of the big names as possible, Dr. K's Motown Revue features the music of The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha and the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye and many more. Boasting an authentic and powerful recreation of Motown favorites, talent buyer Chris Zahn says, "Dr. K's Motown Revue has you relive the 1960's era with each song".

Dr. K, aka band leader Paul Korman, grew up in a musical house, but different than the music he makes today. His mother was a classical piano teacher, and his brother a classical oboist who has gone on to play with the Portland Symphony. Dr. K began performing at 14 with his band called "The Fourteens". They went on to the 1964 World's Fair and played in their Battle of the Bands, which assured him he wanted to be a performer. He went on to love and play Motown, and reached out to friends who loved it too to jam together. They formed into a Tribute band, and for the most part it's been the same group ever since. For Dr. K and for many, Motown is a universal love. Dr. K noted, "Motown is America's music. Whether you're young or not, this music is always going to be on the radio. It's a huge part of our culture and it'll never die. During the show we have a commentator who gives the context and current events of the years surrounding the music, and it's clear how important this music is in our history. Plus, I love being on stage and seeing a kid with his grandfather both singing right along to the music."

Tickets for Dr. K's Motown Revue on Saturday, August 12 at 8pm in the Lackland Performing Arts Center are $27.50 for adults and $22.50 for students in advance. Ticket prices increase $5.00 the day of the performance. Dr. K's Motown Revue is sponsored by The House of the Good Shepherd. For more information on Dr. K's Motown Revue, visit drksmotownrevue.com.
