Cape May Stage, as part of their ongoing commitment to quality programming, is pleased to announce an evening with two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa! Part of Cape May Stage's inaugural Second Stage Broadway Series, the incomparable Ms. Testa entertains Cape May audiences for the second straight year. Joined by two-time Tony winner Michael Starobin, Ms. Testa's one-woman show will run Monday, July 12th at 8pm at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at the corner of Bank and Lafayette Streets in beautiful downtown Cape May.

Mary Testa received her debut as Miss Goldberg in William Finn's one-act musical In Trousers at Off-Broadway's renowned Playwrights Horizons in 1979. Since then, she has sung the works of some of Broadway's most noted composers, including Leonard Bernstein, Ahrens & Flaherty, and Kander & Ebb. She received Tony nominations for her roles in On the Town and 42nd Street, as well as four Drama Desk Award nominations. She has recently been seen on Broadway in the hit musical Xanadu as well as in the latest revival of Guys and Dolls. She is joined again at Cape May Stage by Michael Starobin, noted orchestrator, arranger and Musical Director. Mr. Starobin has won two Tony Awards, one for his orchestrations of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, and another for last season's hit Next to Normal. He is an astounding eight-time Drama Desk Award nominee, having won in 1984 for his orchestrations of Stephen Sondheim's Pulitzer Prize-winning Sunday in the Park with George.

"We are so excited to be back," says Mary Testa, "and very excited about the new show!" While the show is, as yet, untitled, Ms. Testa characterizes the evening as "all about life philosophy and the classics: Shakespeare, Chekhov, and classics of all kinds." Most of the evening will be new music - or, at least, new to Cape May audiences - but there are familiar tunes peppered throughout." The evening is sure to delight, as Ms. Testa has been known to belt out everything from Bernstein to Lady Antebellum, with stops on Aerosmith and Sondheim in between!

Part of Cape May Stage's inaugural Second Stage Broadway Series, An Evening with Mary Testa will run Monday, July 12th at 8:00pm at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at the corner of Bank & Lafayette Streets in downtown Cape May. Tickets are $50, and include an after party at the Wine Bar at the Washington Inn, Cape May's new hip, relaxing, contemporary meeting place at the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets. There, you'll have a chance to mingle with the stars of the show, while enjoying delicious complimentary finger foods and a well-stocked cash bar.
