Step aside Jersey Devil! Bat Boy is coming to LBI! The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences (LBIF) welcomes the Bellarine Theatre Company's production of Bat Boy: The Musical. Get ready for three nights and four performances of Bat Boy, Thursday, October 23rd, Friday, October 24th at 7:00pm and Saturday, October 25th at 6:00pm and 10:00pm. The LBIF is located at 120 Long Beach Blvd., Loveladies, New Jersey.

Bat Boy, half-human, half-bat, made his debut on the cover of The Weekly World News in 1992 and since then has become a pop culture icon. He will now reappear in Bat Boy: The Musical, an adult comedy horror, following the discovery of creature in a cave near Hope Falls, WV. Bat Boy, played by Cameron Sammartano, is taken in by the town veterinarian, Dr. Parker, played by Chris Huch. Bat Boy is accepted as part of the family, taught how to act like a normal boy by Dr. Parker's wife, Meredith, played by Jessica Evans, founder and artistic director of Bellarine Theatre Company. Bat Boy is happy with his new family and has formed a relationship with Dr. Parker's daughter, Shelley, played by Jannah Tabbacchino, a chorus and drama teacher at Southern Regional Middle School. The townspeople turn on him and all is lost when Meredith reveals a shocking secret.

Jim McCabe, Southern Regional High School's improv teacher, directs a talented cast; many (including McCabe himself) were cast members of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which was performed earlier in the season. "The LBIF is excited to be joining forces with the Bellarine Theatre Company again! Their productions of Spelling Bee and Dorothy Meets Alice were both well received," says Amy Carreño, director of public programs, "this is the perfect time to see a musical like Bat Boy, just in time for Halloween."

There will be an entrance fee of $18 per adult, $15 for students and seniors, and $20 for VIPs, which includes front row access and a special treat! Wear a costume to the Saturday 10pm show to receive free popcorn! During the Thursday 7:00pm and Saturday 6:00pm shows, the LBIF will offer activities and snacks for younger children 1st grade and up, for $8/child, no sitter needed. During the Friday 7:00pm show, Crafty Katie's Candylicious Sewing Workshop will be going on. Great for children 8 years and up, plus there's a discount for children with parents attending Bat Boy!
